Aufgang & Friends

Before I head out for the day I wanted to hype you all to a group I've been enjoying this week. Aufgang are from France and they are two-parts trained pianists and one-part DJ/drummer. The result is a much slicker version of house than most other Franco-producers. Head over to LA Friendly to check out two remixes by fellow Frenchmen Spitzer and Krazy Baldhead.

So, I'm heading over to Le Poisson Rouge tomorrow night to check out The Golden Filter, Heartsrevolution, Pink Skull, and Finger on the Pulse. The event is being hosted by Friction NYC and should be a great night for New York City disco. Do you know what you're doing this weekend?

Inbox Update

I had an exciting/productive/relaxing weekend. Props to the Valerie Collective for throwing a killer party at Webster Hall on Friday. All the artists were great, and I was especially blown away by College's performance in which he never seemed to stop bouncing around the stage.

I've been trying to think of something good to bog about all weekend, but was running into a good amount of writers block. So, I was extremely pleased to find some great stuff in my inbox this morning.

First up is Don Diablo with two tracks:

Newton Faulkner :: Dream Catch Me (Don Diablo Remix)

Don Diablo :: Blow (Don Diablo's Sellout Sessions Dub)

I really enjoyed listening to both these tracks and Blow would definitely be nice to drop at a party!

Next up is Owlvision with a fierce remix.

Miss Li :: Ba Ba Ba (Owlvision Remix)

This track has an awesome bounce to it and the synths are HEAVY!

Have a great week and keep the music coming!

Chasing Stars

Cinnamon Chasers is a future-inspired disco group from the UK. Their first release, the "Jetstreams EP", features the sounds of sweeping synths and smooth electronic drums. I'm looking forward to the release of their full album which, according to Cinnamon Chaser's myspace, should be dropped sometime this Spring on Modus Records. Hop over to Binary to check out "Luv Deluxe" off of the "Jetstreams EP". The rest of the tracks can be found at your preferred online music distributor.

Burning Decibels

Baby Diamonds is part of Burn the Fire Records. He's assembled a very nice album "dB" that he's offering for free on his Myspace and at Last.Fm. I'm not sure where Baby Diamonds learned to produce, but he's fucking good at it.

In other news from Burn the Fire artists. Check out Hot Biscuits for a killer Mr. Gaspar remix of "Stab Attack" by BUL!M!ATRON!

Playmaker Party Zine

Playmaker is a new project based out of Sydney. A self-described party and fanzine, Playmaker views itself as a collective consciousness rather than a collection of individuals. Be on the lookout for events, mixtapes, and other such goodies in the next year from this crew. They've even got a few to get you started. First, Playmaker will be throwing a 'Sega-Mega-Drive & Super-Nintendo' inspired dance party at La Campana, in Sydney on January 29. Details can be found at their myspace. Second, to promote the event, Discoballistic assembled a stellar mix which can be found here. Don't forget to check out the Playmaker blog!

Skull and Bones

Dance Area is comprised of the two Netherlanders, Dirk Boogie and Mollono Von Bass. Legend has it that Boogie met Austin Boston in The End nightclub in London, where Austin works. It was here that Boogie recorded Boston on his iPhone and used this sample to create what is now the soon-to-be legendary "AA 24/7". Check out the Skull Juice Remix here. I heard Diplo has just remixed this song too.

Dead Man's Bones is the new musical project from actor Ryan Gosling. I was pretty surprised when i heard the vocals on this track and realized that they were Gosling's. Maybe its all the werewolf masks, but I kinda feel like this track has a slightly Zevon-esque feel to it. It's definitely song-noir to say the least. Check out Dead Man's Bones myspace for the video to the song.

Catching Up

I've been slacking on output lately. So, I was thinking I would use this post to hype a bunch of tracks that I've really been digging lately like Designer Drugs' remixes of Avian X and Milke, or The Disco Villains' remixes of 50 Cent and N.E.R.D. or Le Castle Vania's side project with Blake MillerLies in Disguise. But I figure that all those tracks are already on the internet somewhere and its more fun to go searching for them anyway, especially when you don't use hypem.

So instead, I'll leave you with this track from a man you all probably know.

Cerrone :: Love in C Minor

Songs to find:

Avian X :: Dark Circles (Designer Drugs)
Milke :: Love Get Out of My Way (Designer Drugs Remix)
50 Cent :: In Da Club (The Disco Villains Remix)
N.E.R.D. :: Rockstar (The Disco Villains Remix)
Lies in Disguise :: Meet Your Replacement

2012

Tomorrow night at 9 PM EST the History Channel will be airing a two-hour special on Nostradamus' 2012 prophecies. I'm not sure what to expect. I hate to see people using these predictions to create sensational media, but I trust that the History Channel will provide a well-balanced program. My understanding is that the 2012 theories represent a case in which philosophers have been able to realize the extent of human determinism. However, nobody can predict what actually will happen in 2012! So, its up to us make it good. Hop on board and lets prepare to make 2013 the biggest party ever!

Out With The Old, In With The New

Welcome to 2009!

The New Year holiday is a time to look back over the past 12 months and consider the extent of the year's progression. The internet has made this task amazingly manageable -- even in a year of breakneck development like 2008. Following in the footsteps of 2007 was going to be difficult. How could anyone upstage Justice? Who was going to be the next Boys Noize? What would Girl Talk do next? These questions and more were answered in 2008. Some people were shocked, some people saw it coming, but I think we all enjoyed the ride. To celebrate 2008, B&T is bringing you a list of a few of our favorites.

Top Albums of 2008
